Recreational Opportunities
The Theler Center with an internationally recognized wetland trail system and interpretive center is located at the innermost point of Hood Canal in the town of Belfair.  The number of visitors to this popular attraction has shown a steady and impressive increase over the years.  In 1993 when the Wetland Trails were opened there were 8,839 visitors; in 1998 there were 58,041.  Well over 500,000 people have visited the center.

Belfair State Park is located on the North Shore of Hood Canal three miles from Belfair.  It covers 79 acres and provides camping and recreational vehicle facilities.  It does not have a dock nor boat launching facilities, due to shallowness of the water.
Lakeland Village in Allyn has a 27 hole golf course and will be expanded to 36 holes in the near future.  This is a popular and affordable course which is enjoyed by local residents as well as many visitors from out of the area.

George Kenny School of Chainsaw Carving and gift shop located in Allyn is a favorite stop for many visitors to the area.  They have contests which draw artists from throughout the northwest and are now selling their artwork worldwide on the "web".  This business has grown significantly each year and is now a highly successful school with courses offered through the local college and students from throughout the country.

Visitors are welcome to visit an authentic blacksmith shop, "The Old Cedar Forge" which operates year round near Allyn.  They produce items, both functional and artistic, that are distributed on the west coast and into Canada.  Jerry uses traditional equipment some of which is over 100 years old.  Their showroom is open to the public and free tours of the operation are available.  They also have an apprenticeship program for students interested in this art form.  

North Bay Kayak & Watersports provides single and double kayaks, and a pedal boat for rent.  All equipment and basic instruction are provided.  This is a fun and safe sport for all ages and abilities.  Open Weekends 10am to 8pm Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. Located in Allyn.
