Last Monday in May
This has become one of the favorite events in North Mason. All military personnel are invited to come and be recognized by the community. Of course friends & family are welcome along with the rest of the community. There are items on display, pictures, and articles as well as a chance for each individual to share their story of service to our country. Stan Yantis and his band provide the music starting at noon with rousing versions of military theme songs. At the end of the ceremony, the ranks "fall in" and march to the waterfront to place a memorial wreath in North Bay in rememberance of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Others in attendance also have the opportunity to participate. Each year, the soleful rendition of Taps by Stan brings a heart wrenching internalization of just how much we have been given and at what price.
